CIS Payment method…
CIS stands for Construction Industry Scheme which is a set of special rules laid out by the tax office for handling payments made by contractors to subcontractors for construction work.
The Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) applies to contractors, sub-contractors and any organisations that have a high annual spend on construction, even if their main work isn’t in the industry. If your firm is involved in construction, it may need to register with HMRC under CIS.
When registering you need to indicate whether you’re a contractor or subcontractor as different rules apply to each category. Within each category there are separate terms that define your business.
https://www.gov.uk/what-you-must-do-as-a-cis-contractor/how-to-register
PAYE Payment method…
For most of our candidates, it’s taken directly from our payslips at the end of every week or month, all via something known as the Pay As You Earn system – or PAYE. If you’re not up-to-speed on all your tax-related terminology? Here’s a bit more information…
The Pay As You Earn system, often shortened to PAYE, is basically the process put in place that allows you to pay your income tax and National Insurance as you earn.
Your employer automatically calculates how much you need to pay, and takes it out of your pay packet before you get it (all calculations are documented in the payslip). They then send it through to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and pay you the remaining amount from your salary.
Limited Company payment method…
The definition: Limited Liability – The notion that a company is only liable to the extent of its own capital and reserves.
If you set up your own limited company, you will become a company director. As one of over 2 million companies registered in the UK, you will have a number of statutory and financial obligations; you will have to submit annual accounts to Companies House (the registrar of companies in the UK), run the company solvently and responsibly, and meet your HMRC tax deadlines.
Fortunately, most of the work involved in running a company can be taken on by a specialist contractor accountant, although as a director you are responsible for meeting the company’s obligations. Most contractors operate via their own companies, and there are literally hundreds of contractor accountants in the marketplace who will be more than happy to show you the ropes.
One of the main benefits of contracting via a limited company is that it is the most tax-efficient way to operate. Unlike a PAYE or umbrella employee, you pay yourself in the form of a basic salary and the remainder is drawn down in the form of dividends.

Finding a job through a recruitment agency has a lot of advantages. Firstly, we’ll often have built up good relationships with a lot of top employers, giving you exclusive access to their jobs. You’ll also get put forward for positions that you wouldn’t otherwise have heard about. Other benefits of using a recruitment agency include:
What if I see a role advertised by a recruitment agency?
We post many of their vacancies online. Anyone is able to apply for these positions, although it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be signing up to the agency as a result. You should never be charged to use a recruitment agency. Our consultants are paid by the us and we receive fee’s based on whether you’ve successfully started in a role. There should be no payment directly from the individual.

Engineering companies across the UK are recognizing the difficulties in recruiting candidates with the right skills level. As you would expect, the answer is not easy and there is no quick fix to an issue which has been building for years.
As one of the UK’s specialist engineering recruitment agencies, Avenue Recruitment is helping to address the issue head on, handling engineering vacancies on a daily basis.
Jobsite recently conducted extensive research on the issue and asked one of our Principal Consultants, Myles Allan, to share his views in the white paper.
He explained, “The difficulty for HR and recruitment teams is that we have an immediate need to service short-term projects. Obviously, we sell our opportunities the best we can but our audience is those that are already engineers.”
He continued, “With the current uncertainty over Brexit, it is incumbent on the government to take the lead with a high-profile campaign to attract youngsters into engineering. While the current shortage of engineering talent is an immediate concern, and attracting current students is a long-term project, the situation shows no sign of improving (in fact, it may get worse depending on the situation of EU nationals post-Brexit) so the campaign must be both immediate and long-term.”
Although various steps will need to be taken to alleviate the skills shortage, these won’t happen overnight and there are vacancies open right now that are going unfilled due to issues with the hiring process. Myles has his own thoughts on this, “Whilst the shortage of candidates continues, it is crucial that companies expedite their hiring process to ensure that they don’t miss out on good candidates. A number of times recently I have encountered companies losing out on excellent candidates because, by the time they were ready to make an offer, the candidate had accepted an offer from another employer. If you do have a potentially suitable candidate, don’t sit on your hands waiting to make move tomorrow. Make it today as you don’t know when the next great CV will land on your desk.”

Here are our 10 tips for interview success.
1. First impressions count
Like it or not many interviewers subconsciously makes decisions about whether they like you or not and whether you will fit into the team within the first 30 seconds. So ensure you greet your interviewer with a smile and firm handshake.
2. Be prepared
It might sound obvious but you would be surprised at how badly prepared many candidates are. Do you research thoroughly. Look at the company’s website. Look at their competitors. Look at their customers. Have your questions and your suggestions ready
3. Be relaxed
Remember that if you have made it through to the interview stage they already like your credentials. Take your time answering questions. Speak slowly. You can help them as much as they can help you.
4. Demonstrate why they should hire you?
The interviewer is looking to find out more about you so be ready to talk about your knowledge, experience, abilities and skills. Have at least three strong points about yourself that you can relate to the company and job on offer. Most job adverts will list qualities they’re looking for – a team worker, a good communicator – so it’s up to you to think of examples of how you can demonstrate these skills.
5. Be positive
Interviewers like to see someone who enjoys a challenge and is enthusiastic so reflect that in your interview. Your interviewer will be thinking about what it would be like to work with you, so the last thing they’ll want to hear is you talking about your boss or current colleagues behind their back.
6. Some quick body language tips
Body language plays a big part in communication so do not fold your arms, do not lean lean back or look to the floor! Sit upright and try to maintain good eye contact. Use your hands and lean forward when making a point.
7. Expect the unexpected
Many employers try to ask at least one ‘killer’ question in the interview to try and catch you off guard. It is impossible to plan for every difficult question but try to appear relaxed and in control. A great tip to buy more time and collect your thoughts is to ask the interviewer to repeat the question.
8. Develop rapport
Try and create a two way discussion. Don’t wait until the end to ask your questions, Build them into your answers. Ask your interviewer questions about their job, how the company is performing and any challenges the business is facing and then show how you could help
9. Be clear and concise
If you are not certain what is meant by a particular question, ask the interviewer to clarify. At the end, ask the interviewer if there is anything else they need to know about you. Do not be afraid to ask when you are likely to hear if you have been successful or not.
10. Be proactive and courteous
It is better to choose than to be chosen. Tell the interviewer why you are interested in the company and job opportunity. Ask them for a business card and follow it up by sending a “thank-you” e-mail or letter, saying how much you enjoyed meeting them and how interested you are. Take the opportunity to detail the key advantages you bring.

A few simple improvements to your CV can make all the difference. Check your CV for these common mistakes and use the guidelines to improve your CV.
Include a profile or objectives section at the start of your CV
It makes it easier for the recruiter to scan your CV if you include a summary of your goals, skills, qualifications and experience at the start of your document. This should be focused on the job that you are targeting.
Use bullets rather than paragraphs
From our experience, employers want to be able to extract the main information within 30 seconds so it is vital you make it easy to read whilst covering the points Paragraphs are great in your profile section, but should not be used throughout your CV.
Focus on what is important
Only list dates that are relevant. You don’t need to state the dates for short courses, club membership or hobbies. Emphasize the abilities that you want to use at your next employer. Don’t write essays on mundane tasks and skills.
CV length
Whilst a shorter CV is preferred do not cram the information to fit on one or two pages. Use white space to make your CV more readable and if you need more room to list your relevant experience and qualifications then use an extra page.
Use achievement driven words over responsibilities
Instead of listing your work responsibilities you should focus on how your contributions made a difference to the company and your team. Show how you have done more than what is expected and have performed better than your colleagues.
Never use a CV three to six months old. Always update your CV for every job application.
